Ah! Spring the flowers are blooming, birds are chirping and makeup companies are dropping new makeup! Not everyone gets excited by new makeup but I certainly do. Today I picked up the new Urban Decay Backtalk palette and the new Tarte Mermaid palette. I had a gift card that I had gotten for christmas and I was waiting for some new stuff to come out, especially that were warm tones, I have enough browns, yellows, oranges, and blacks. I need more pink, purple, red, blue, green, and anything glitter. I was originally not going to buy either one, and then I decided I wanted the urban decay, and then I changed my mind and so on. I went to Sephora and got both palettes.
I got them home and couldn’t wait to open them and swatch them properly, I tied them in the store briefly, here are my thoughts on each palette.
Urban Decay:
The packaging is made of a cardboard like material, its pretty slim and light so it will be great for travel. When you open it up you are greeted by a range of eyeshadows from a beige 3 sheets, to a brown 180,I know more brown and a mirror in the middle, that is actually removable. There are actually 5 brownish shades in the palette, and 2 pinkish shades. When I initially swatch the first color 3 sheets, I feel how buttery it feels and then I wiped my finger on my forearm and didn’t see anything, so I put more color on my finger and tried again, this time a little more pigment showed, I kept swatching every color and I was more disappointed than anything. The colors when looking at them remind me of the Naked Heat palette. I switched the other side open and saw 4 neutral shades for blush and highlighter, swatching these were very petty! They swiped very smooth and when I put them on my forearm I saw a nice amount of pigment. I will at least try the palette tomorrow but I may be returning this one based on the shadows. Tarte:
This palette is just, EVERYTHING!!!!! The packaging is the blue/green iradecent scaly clamshell and the colors are ocean inspired again warm toned BUT different, you’ll see in the pictures. The formula is so buttery on every shade and every shade had so much pigment! There is one Duo-chrome shade “bubbles” that just needs to be worn everyday! I can’t wait to try this one, I will probably try and create a look using both palettes tomorrow and I will let you all know the outcome. Here are some pictures:
What makeup are you excited to get your hands on? either of these? Let me know!!
