I have been an Ipsy subscriber since November of last year. When I got my first bag I was so excited to receive it, i checked my spoilers when they were online and I was really excited to have some new products to try out and review and from companies that I hadn’t tried yet. Over the last few months though I just feel like the bags have gone downhill. I don’t know what it is, maybe the profiles aren’t working properly, maybe the people who curate the samples have changed, I don’t know and I have heard this same thing from a few other bloggers and YouTubers. This month was no exception, like I always do I checked my spoilers and was immediately disappointed, but I decided to wait until I received the physical bag, which was this evening.
The bag itself is really pretty, Pinkish with black lace along the top where the zipper is and a high quality feeling “suede” fabric, complete with a black zipper and pull with ipsy printed in pink. Here is a picture below, again I think the bag is my favorite thing this month.
So I opened the bag and looked at my products one by one and swatching what I could.
The first product I recieved is a five minute facial mask from bioBELLE, I have never tried this brand before and I do enjoy a sheet mask so we shall see how this works later. Personally I would rather have gotten a brush, but it is what it is.
My second item was from Seraphine Botanicals in the shade LYCHEE + GOLD , described as a “Healthy Glow Rose-Gold Blush”, this is a vegan, GMO-Fre, Gluten Free, brand that is not tested on animals, well I like that, upon opening the box it came in, i was greeted by a white case with a clear top and a pretty rosy color, I opened it watched it and then watched again and again and saw no pigment on my hand, I will have to try this on my face before I make a final judgement, but it seems to close to my skin tone to make a difference. The image in the middle was taken with the flash and the one on the right was normal, as you can see nothing showing up, but I will try this tomorrow until I make a final judgement.
Next I found a liquid lipstick from Ofra, I have never tried Ofra before but the color is the same as the last two I have received from Ipsy, again I would have preferred a red, or a nude, or maybe something not pink. I swatched the product and it looks pretty, and the doe foot applicator is a pretty nice shape so I will try this tomorrow as well. Again the one on the left is with flash and the one on the right is normal light.
My third product was the one I was most excited about when I saw the spoiler because eyeshadows are my favorite and this one was a loose powder from Marsk in the shade foiled again, this is described on the website as a mineral eyeshadow and retails for $22.50. Inspecting the package the pigment looked dark charcoal grey, when I watched it, I got light silver, so once again disappointed, I will see what looks I can create with this and give a final judgement, but for now its not looking good. The do have some pretty colors on their website, depending on how this goes I may try some more colors.
My fifth and final product is from it cosmetics, the BYE BYE Undereye full coverage, into-aging, waterproof, concealer, now I love it’s products and Im willing to try tis one, maybe it will be better than shape tape. I will be trying this tomorrow, I did not swatch this because its a concealer, I received the shade Medium Tan. The claim on the package says that “it’s 8 hours of sleep in a tube”, we will have to see about that.
So I will be applying a mask this evening and let you know how that goes. I will also use the cosmetic products tomorrow and give feedback on how the actual application goes.
